Pictures, Words & Sounds...

So, yes, we're a photography studio, but now and then the other currents that make up the river of my life take over. In this case, lately, it's the words and sounds.
For those of you musically-geared and hot-wired for composition, here's a song I've written. Not for you to just sit back and listen to because then you'd only ever hear it one way, but for you to pick it up, to turn it over and juggle it around in your mind, to play with the message, to make it your voice you hear and not another.
Sometimes there is a war in me of expression, between these three currents. Some days, more than others, a picture is the only way I can tell you the story. Now and then there is the blog and only words will do. And for years this last well has been too deep to draw up anything worth quenching my spirit, but lately the sounds, the music, has described something I've yet to grasp. I think it's the three coming together. It's the pictures merging with the words and becoming the sound I hear only in my soul, and maybe it has to be that way for me to fully tell the story.

Here is that story for today, both in song for those of you who will grab a guitar or go to the piano, and also in prose for those of you who simply won't :)

Prose:

My King

It’s not about the money
that you’ve made.
It’s not about the road
you think you’ve paved.

It’s not your house.
It’s not your car.
Those things don’t make you
the man that you are.

And those clothes on your back,
they don’t mean a thing
to the only,
the one true King.

‘Cause my King,
He sees a flower in the field,
He says it’s more beautiful
than anything we could build.

And my King,
oh He looks into your soul.
There’s nothing about you
He doesn’t already know.
Oh that’s my King.

His book tells me
you’re the same as every man.
When His law shines down
you’ll be just as stained with sin.

My king hung there.
He knew the cost.
My king says the price was paid
when He died upon that cross.

‘Cause my King,
He sees a flower in the field.
He says it’s more beautiful
than anything we could build.

And my King,
He looks into your soul.
There’s nothing about you
He doesn’t already know.

Someone gives you a gift
and did your mama ever say
you should throw it in their face,
just turn and walk away?

But still it’s up to you
so what’s it gonna be?
Your choice is guaranteed
To last an eternity.

‘Cause my King,
He sees a flower in the field.
He says it’s more beautiful
than anything we could build.

And my King,
He looks into your soul.
There’s nothing about you
He doesn’t already know.

Do you wanna know my King?
Don’t you wanna know your King?
Do you wanna know the one true King?

Daniel, As your mom I am constantly awed by your poetic soul! The little boy who wrote "Jesus I Love" all those years ago back in 4th grade was just the foreshadow of what was to come...God placed those words in your heart then, and he continues to place them in your heart and mind today. I am so proud of the man/husband/father you are!
